Julie Rojano’s path into nursing started with her grandmother.
As a child, she watched her grandmother live with Alzheimer’s. What stayed with her was not just the diagnosis, but the way nurses cared for her with patience, dignity, and compassion.
Even then, she knew that was the kind of care she wanted to give.
Today, she brings that same approach to Magdala House.
With over 20 years of nursing experience and 17 years working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Julie strengthens how we care for the people we serve.
She is not just focused on treatment. She is focused on advocacy.
Throughout her career, she has seen how often individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are misunderstood or overlooked in healthcare.
“They have a life, they have a personality, and they deserve care that reflects that,” she shared.
With Julie and Kauri on staff, Magdala House now has two Registered Nurses, strengthening healthcare support across our Intellectual and Developmental Disabled programs in St. Louis.
For staff, that means more guidance and support.
For the people we serve, it means more consistent, thoughtful care.
This is what it looks like to advocate for care that sees the whole person.
This is part of how Magdala House is growing with intention, strengthening our systems, and building more consistent care for the people we serve.
