We were honored to welcome a representative from Mayor Spencer’s office to Tiny Homes Village, a transitional housing community for unhoused individuals in St. Louis operated by Magdala House in partnership with the City of St. Louis. The visit highlighted how we support residents on their journey from housing instability to permanent, independent living.
During the tour, the Mayor’s Office representative explored the fully furnished homes, our supportive office space, and the future expansion area. Each unit includes heating, cooling, and a private key—a simple yet powerful symbol of dignity, safety, and personal ownership.
We also highlighted additional features that foster daily dignity and independence, such as the on-site shower and laundry facility—essential resources that support our residents in rebuilding their lives.
Magdala House offers more than just shelter—we provide wraparound care that supports long-term stability, dignity, and healing. Through our Tiny Homes program, tenants are paired with case managers and occupational therapists to help navigate challenges like financial hardship, chronic health conditions, and transportation barriers. Beyond clinical support, our community garden, shared bicycles, and inclusive programming help residents feel seen, heard, and empowered as they work toward lasting independence.
As Garfield Duckett, Vice President of Unhoused and IDD Services, shared:
“Our goal is to prepare our tenants to live independently, and we work every day to provide them with the resources they need to thrive.”
We’re grateful to Mayor Spencer’s office for recognizing the work being done at Magdala House. Together, we are planting seeds of hope and creating real, lasting change through transitional housing in St. Louis.
